We love it when the stars align and Antra Svarcs’ first project with us couldn’t have been more fitting in theme and client. As Maker’s Mgmt’s resident Bond Girl, if she’s not adventuring in nature she’s illustrating enviable outdoorsy lifestyles – so when this project popped in our inbox, we knew Antra was the perfect artist for the gig.
Icebreaker is a NZ fashion label that specialises in high-performance clothing using natural, ethically sourced, fine merino wool. Their new Tabi collection – Japanese Kanji for journey – refers to the connection people have to provenance and place and Antra was commissioned to realise this journey as a mural for their Chadstone store.
Fortunately, Antra didn’t have to look very far for inspiration. A lover of nature, climbing mountains and hiking through Victoria’s Yarra ranges were the experiences that provided the perfect setting, with each illustrated character dressed in items from the Tabi collection. The finished mural is a wonderful feature at the Icebreaker store celebrating people enjoying the great outdoors.
Surprisingly, this was also Antra’s very first mural! And from the results, we’re sure there will be many more. Do you have a uninspiring space that could do with some bright mural artwork? No doubt our adventure girl is up to the challenge, send us an email and we’ll get Antra harnessed up in some abseiling gear, paintbrush in hand, ready to scale your building!
